Care Instructions
Thank you for purchasing one of our products and supporting Australian Small Business.
All of our products at KM Resins have been handmade. As such, they require a little more TLC to ensure that they retain their beauty and value.
Wood is a beautiful natural material that allows us to create individual one of a kind pieces. It does however have the ability to both absorb water into its grain as well as expel it. When too much water is absorbed, the fibres begin to expand which can cause the wood to warp, bend and/or crack.
Cleaning
To clean, wash surfaces lightly with a soft non abrasive damp cloth with water only. This applies for both OSMO & food grade mineral oil finished products.
Even without the use of cleaning products, the more a board is washed, the more the natural oils will be drawn out of the wood which can make them more prone to splitting and warping.
Boards/Tables Finished in OSMO food safe oil
After lots of use you might notice that the surface of the board/table is starting to lose its sheen. This can be easily rejuvenated by applying OSMO liquid wax cleaner which can be buffed into the surface of the product. Alternatively you can contact us and for a small fee we can bring your work of art back to its original stunning look.
As we use OSMO food safe oil on our products it is not recommended to re-oil the timber surface with any other product as the timber is sealed during the finishing process.
NEVER put your boards into a Dishwasher or soak/submerge them in water
Serving Boards Finished in food grade mineral oil.
For customers who have requested to have their product finished in food grade mineral oil please see below for care instructions.
The finishing process is a bath in food grade mineral oil which can give a unique look to the timber but can require a little more care due to the timber not being sealed in the finishing process.
If you see that your serving board surface is starting to dry out after extended use then it will need to re-oiled with food grade mineral oil only.
Simply rub the oil into the wood with a rag or cloth until the whole board is covered and not absorbing any more oil.
DO NOT use vegetable or olive oil.
NEVER put your boards into a Dishwasher or soak/submerge them in water
Dry immediately after cleaning and don’t allow water to pool and sit on the surface of the board.
Store standing upright in a dry place away from heat and sunlight or on a flat even surface.
Whilst resin is a very hard product, as with most plastic products, it is still susceptible to scratches and gouges. Therefore, our boards are designed to be used as serving boards only – Not as chopping boards unless specially designed for this use.
If you have any questions about our product care, even if you haven’t purchased an item it is recommended that you contact us directly via email, facebook or the mobile number listed on our contact us page.
